 Fred Guzman

Founder of MUSC, Fred has been involved in soccer for more than three decades as a coach, administrator and executive. His teams at Baldwin, Branham (Calif.) and Live Oak (Calif.) high schools won eight league championships and qualified for post-season play 13 times in 17 years. He has been involved with MUSC teams that have won 24 state titles and advanced to 36 regional tournaments since the club's inception. He served as a state ODP coach for four years. At the adult level, he was head coach of the San Jose Soccer Association team that won a California state champion and an MUSC squad that won a Hawaii state title in 1993, a first for a Neighbor Island team. As an administrator, Guzman has served as president of the San Francisco Soccer League and vice president of the San Jose Soccer Association. He also served on the boards of the Hawaii Youth Soccer Association, HYSA-Maui, MUSC and the Hawaii Cup. Guzman was Executive Vice President of the San Jose Earthquakes professional team and served in the same capacity with ProLink, a promotions firm that staged more than 50 international matches, featuring teams from more than 20 countries.
