Brent Nunes

Brent's playing career started here on Maui, as a youth playing for Maui United Soccer Club.  Nunes was a captain and member of  MUSC teams that qualified for the Far West Regional tournaments and showcase events throughout the west coast.  Nunes was also a member of our Hawaii Sate ODP team where he traveled and participated in several Region IV camps.

After gaining all-star honors and serving as a team captain at Baldwin High School, Nunes was a starting freshman midfielder at Menlo College in California, before transferring to Oregon State University and graduating in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Sports Science.

Upon graduating from Oregon State University, Nunes served as the head assistant coach at Santa Rosa Junior College men's program for two years, guiding the team to a 21-1 record and runner up finish in the junior college national rankings.  Working under the guidance of one of the countries most successful junior college head coaches Marty Kinahan, Nunes experienced a memorable second year at Santa Rosa, as the team finished in the top 10 national rankings once again.  Living on the west coast, Nunes gained additional coaching experience working with Oregon United Youth Soccer Academy, Annadel Soccer Club, and as a technical training for many California high school players.

While back on Maui, Nunes has played a key role in developing some of Maui's top youth players to date.  Nunes has recently developed and placed youth players to the LA Galaxy, Chivas USA, and  USA Region and National Team Pool.

In December of 2012, Nunes and his coaching mentor Paul Holocher (Head Coach of Division 1 Cal Poly San Luis Obispo at that time) traveled out to Europe where they studied the game at top professional organizations such as: FC Barcelona (Spain), Valencia C.F.(Spain), FC Twenty (Holland), AFC Ajax (Holland), Heraceles (Holland), and Borussia Monchengladbach (Germany).

Brent Nunes is also a member of our USA ODP Region IV staff, where he travels each summer identifying and working with some of our countries top youth players.  His main goal here at Maui United Soccer Club is to create an environment where young players are able to develop as student-athletes while creating a platform for top players to compete at the highest level possible.
